The Lions team prepares for Saints Clash

A squad of 24 Brisbane Lions AFLW travel to Victoria tomorrow to take on St Kilda in a practice match ahead of the start of AFLW Season 7 in two weeks.

Reigning W medalist Emily Bates headlines the squad at RSEA Park, alongside 2021 Nat Grider All-Australian and captain Bre Koenen.

Rookies Ella Smith and Dee Heslop will travel to Melbourne for their first official hit in maroon, blue and gold.

While Lions Academy product Lily Postlethwaite will have her first shot at Guernsey since suffering an ACL injury in the fourth round of 2021.

Product Maroochydore Roos returned to competitive football via the QAFLW earlier this year where she established herself as a prolific and hard-hitting midfielder.

Shannon Campbell will miss the clash as she recovers from a minor shoulder injury, while Orla O’Dwyer will remain in Brisbane as she continues her comeback from shoulder surgery.

The practice match is open to the public and free. Lions fans are encouraged to get along and support the team in their first public outing of Season 7.

The Lions take on Fremantle at The Gabba in the first leg on Sunday August 28, with tickets now on sale HERE.
