The 2022 block location explainer: Where is the tree change season? Everything you need to know about Gisborne South in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria

The Block 2022 is currently in full swing, and in a first season the show ditched city life in favor of a tree shift to beautiful Gisborne South in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges.

Teams Ankur and Sharon, Dylan and Jenny, Omar and Oz, Tom and Sarah-Jane, and newbies Rachel and Ryan each build a huge house on 10 acres in the heart of Australia.

For the first time in To block story not only do the candidates build a farm, but they are responsible for planning and thinking about the landscaping of more than 700 square meters of land.

But where exactly are the houses located in the Macedon Ranges, and why? The block take place there in 2022? Read below to find out more.

Where is The block 2022 located?

The Block 2022 is located in Gisborne South in the Macedon Ranges, approximately 40 minutes from Melbourne.

Nearby towns include Woodend, Romsey, Macedon and Mount Macedon.

The block the houses are located just 10 minutes drive from the main shopping center of Gisborne, while the area also has primary and secondary schools, with many other schools a short bus ride away.

Gisborne South is well known for its sprawling country estates, tree-lined streets, restaurants and cafes, while the area also features beautiful vineyards, olive groves, alpaca industries and local produce shops.

The Macedon Ranges are an established getaway for Melbourne residents, and Ed Sheeran is even said to have a home in Mount Macedon.

According to the last census, the population of the Macedon Ranges is 46,100.

Why is it The block located in the Macedon Ranges this year?

Over the years, The block was filmed in a number of cities such as Bondi and Manly in Sydney, Port Melbourne, St Kilda and Brighton.

The most recent season saw the stars renovate a cul-de-sac in the Melbourne suburb of Hampton.

Executive Producer and To block co-creator Julian Cress came up with the idea to switch trees after he and his family moved from Melbourne to Gisborne South during the Covid lockdowns.

“It’s such a beautiful part of the world, and I think the Macedon Ranges are one of Melbourne’s best kept secrets,” Julian said before filming.

“Also, as we come out of two very difficult years, going to the country almost celebrates our lifestyle and what is so great about Australia.”

Homes for the 2022 season will have a seven-star energy rating and will be built to design specifications that consider durability and resiliency.

“These homes will be completely off-grid,” added Julian.

As a big fan of bushland and historic homes, host Scott Cam was also thrilled when he discovered The block became regional for the 2022 season.

“Gisborne, where we are, is the perfect tree-changing joint,” Scott recently said in an interview with 9Entertainment.

“I live in Port Melbourne and it took me 35 minutes door to door from Port Melbourne to Gisborne, and for me it’s the perfect tree change.”
