Bolton Clarke goes electric with Ohmie GO

Bolton Clarke became the first retiree village operator to sign with electric vehicle start-up Ohmie GO to provide an electric mobility solution to residents.
Ohmie GO is an electric vehicle sharing company that allows people to access recent models of cars, bikes and vans near their building, usually booked on an hourly basis.
Under the agreement, Ohmie GO will supply a premium Tesla 3SR + electric vehicle (pictured) for the exclusive use of residents of Bolton Clarke’s Europa on Alma’s retirement community in St Kilda. The first residents will move into the newly completed community in the New Year.
Bolton Clarke’s Managing Director of Property Development James Mantis said he was delighted to announce the deal – one of many innovations designed to ‘secure the future’ of the village.
“Looking at international trends, we know that electric vehicles are growing in popularity – especially in urban areas – and when there is greater adoption, we want to be ready to meet the needs of our residents,” a- he declared.
âThe Ohmie GO solution includes an EV infrastructure, a 100% electric fleet, a maintenance, insurance, servicing, reservation and management application, a dedicated community manager and powerful analyzes.
âResidents will be able to book the use of the shared car directly via the Ohmie GO application on their smartphone or iPad, or via the concierge desk.
âWe want to encourage more electric vehicles and give residents access to the electric vehicle infrastructure, in particular by installing charging stations in the underground parking lot.
âThe Ohmie GO solution will offer residents a sustainable and economical alternative to owning a traditional vehicle.
Ohmie VEO Kyle Bolton said: âWe are delighted to be working with Bolton Clarke to bring Ohmie GO to its retired residents. We built Ohmie GO from the ground up, creating the world’s best electric mobility experience, and therefore specifically chose to work with Tesla and the world’s best electric vehicle and e-bike manufacturers. It’s a frictionless end-to-end solution.
Mr Mantis said he hoped the arrangement could be extended to other Bolton Clarke developments in the future.
Europa sur Alma will also integrate smart meters, solar panels supplying electricity directly to common areas, motion detector lights and a rainwater capture tank to irrigate communal gardens.
High-tech security features include building keyless entry, video intercom, and Bolton Clarke InTouch emergency assistance.
