The families of the two Sydney teams are in quarantine at the Mercure hotel in Brisbane and will then join the players, where they will remain in Queensland indefinitely or be transferred to Melbourne pending a possible easing of Victoria’s COVID-19 restrictions.
Hawthorn is set to play their home game against Brisbane in Launceston, with the AFL seeking approval from the Tasmanian government – much like with the Queensland government – to set up a barren lane from Victoria.
It will become an easier request from the AFL if Victoria comes out of lockdown on Tuesday.
The Western Bulldogs will face Adelaide at Ballarat, while Fremantle will still be able to host Richmond at Optus Stadium in Perth.
